A trip to the state capital

How about visiting Schleswig Holstein’s state capital Kiel? It isn’t a long trip by car from Camping Park Augstfelde. The big city at the fjord offers great shopping facilities, many restaurants and cafes as well as many sights. Kiel is located at the Baltic Sea (Kiel Fjord) and constitutes the terminus of the most frequented artificial waterway, the international Kiel Canal. The city is especially known for its annual international sailing event, the Kiel Week, the handball club THW Kiel, the football club Holstein Kiel as well as for its culinary speciality, the “Kieler Sprotten” (Kiel sprats).
