Welcome to the Town of Roses Eutin

Eutin is often fondly referred to as the “Weimar of the North” due to the fact that many great personalities stayed at the small ducal court in the midst of this picturesque landscape. The painter of Goethe, Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein, worked here and the composer Carl Maria von Weber was born here. In his honour, the Eutin Music Festival takes place in the castle gardens during the summer months.

In spring and summer, the great lake cruises attract many visitors, and in winter, long walks around the lakes are absolutely worthwhile as well as spending cosy hours in cafes or restaurants or visiting wonderful events. During the Christmas season, a special programme (“Lichterstadt-Programm”) is offered during which parts of the town are beautifully illuminated.
